Well, this story started about 2 weeks ago now. It was the 12th May and I was getting my car ready for its first event on Sunday the 13th. Had it outside and was checking the brakes etc.
Start the car to move it and white smoke poors out the exhaust. Im thinking fuck what is that. I look at my mate Petey who has been there throughout the whole build and his face doesnt give me confidence. We do a few checks over the car and realise its the turbo that is screwed. I call the person that I bought it off and he told me to check a few things, everything still points to screwed oil seal on turbo.
About 5pm I decide, I wont be going tomorrow and that I would need to pull the turbo off as I have organised with the person I bought it off to have him pick it up on Sunday night. So Sunday rolls around and I pull the turbo off within 20min. It sits there waiting till the afternoon where it will be picked up. Halfway through the day a mate is walking past and I start talking to him about the turbo. I got get it to show him the oil in the rear housing. As i put it down for him to look at I notice there is a crack in the weld on the rear housing between housing and exhaust flange. Im even more pissed. I put it back inside and wait aruond for it to be picked up. It gets picked up and now I have to wait.
WAIT.... WAIT.... WAIT... week later its at Garrett, the makers of the turbo. Anyway, 2weeks later, still no solid information, Im getting really pissed now. Im continually everyday asking the guy I got the turbo from whats going on and get the same answer, will just have to wait for them to go through there process. Guess I can count myself lucky, have heard stories of peoples turbos taking up to 3 months to process.
So yesterday I ask for more information, he said he would try and find out more, he gets back to me fairly quick and tells me they have done some testing and the results are that some of the bolts on the housing were lose, I find this hard to believe cause I remember hurting my hands from doing them up that tight. Im will be interested to see what they say caused the crack in the housing.
Well the guy said he would keep pushing to get it replaced so Ill just have to wait some more. Will keep you guys, well Chad, my loyal reader up to date on what is happening.
/End rant :)
